Job Description Summary

The VA Work Study (VAWS) Program at South Louisiana Community College affords veteran students the opportunity to have an outstanding educational experience while earning compensation. The focus of the program is to provide students the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a professional office environment. The experience is designed to enable students to develop transferable work talents which will benefit them in their future career. By participating in the program, student employees will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to improve future employability. Federal Work Study Experience Students employed in Financial Aid Office- VA Education Benefits department will be expected to perform the following duties:
• Promote the features and benefits of being a student at South Louisiana Community College
• Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external constituents in person and by telephone• Enter certification data on VAONCE (does not submit certifications)
• Gather, scan, electronically file, and shred documentation received from veteran students and others
• Assist with special projects such as data entry and/or completing errands between campus buildings (Lafayette campus only)
• Complete assigned duties efficiently and with quality
• Maintain data integrity at all times
• Other duties as assignedW

Qualifications Desired

Outstanding Customer Service Skills.

Experience Required

Students who wish to participate in the VA Work Study program must be eligible to receive VA Education Benefits, be enrolled in at least six credits at South Louisiana Community College during the semester of employment, be a continuing student, and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Additionally, students must be eligible to work in the United States and successfully submit all paperwork required by Human Resources.
