Position Title Adult Education Para-Educator
Job Description Summary

To provide support services to Adult Education teaching staff and students on the Crowley Campus. This position is responsible for entry of data into the WRU database, answering phones, performing research needed by Adult Education instructors, filing, maintaining student records. This position is responsible for TABE testing, developing reports and analyzing data based on WRU database. This position is the first point-of-contact for Adult Education students and is expected to be professional, welcoming, and provide needed assistance to students. This position may require delivery of tutoring services as indicated by the Director of Adult Education. This position will be responsible for the computer lab and provided instructional assistance to the instructors.

Reinforces instruction through drill and practice activities with individual students or
small groups; leads assigned student activities.
Checks students’ work in the classroom and demonstrates instructional material.10%
Administers assigned tests evaluating student learning. 25%
Files student work and maintains related records.10%
Assists in arranging instructional site to facilitate learning. 3%
Reproduces instructional material for the teacher. 5%
Corrects student assignments and records student grades. 8%
Prepares bulletin boards. 2%
Attends faculty and related meetings. 2%
Provides clerical support to assigned professional by typing related material and
compiling information.5%
Assists in collecting and maintaining data about student behavior; assists in implementing behavior management programs. 5%
Assists in the set up and maintenance of adaptive and technological equipment. 5%
Maintains an inventory of classroom materials and equipment.5%
Tutor students and assist teachers 10%
Performs other duties as assigned. 5%

Qualifications Desired

 Graduation from high school or GED. Any equivalent combination of acceptable
experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
 Ability to master and communicate instructional material.
 Ability to secure student cooperation independent of immediate supervisor.
 Ability to establish and maintain positive relations with students, parents, and
professional staff.
 Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
 Ability to successfully complete provided training in instruction in area of specialty.
 Ability to learn operation of standard school office machines and equipment.
 Skill in classroom management
 Some knowledge of child psychology and development, and the legal, ethical, and confidential nature of the job.
 Excellent oral written communication skills.
 Excellent listening and communication skills.
 Able to work with minimal supervision.
 Able to work individually or as part of a team.
 Excellent relationship-building skills.
 Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
 Excellent interpersonal skills.
 Customer service oriented.
 Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office© Professional applications.
 Skill in classroom management.
 Ability to tutor small groups and work one-on-one with students.

Experience Required
