Position Title Practical Nursing Program Chair
Job Description Summary

Responsible for the management of the PN programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides oversight management for all SLCC PN Programs.
• Functions as the PN Coordinator for the Lafayette Campus.
• Responds to all LSBPNE communications in a timely manner.
• Assists with the room scheduling of class and skills lab for the Lafayette Campus only.
• Makes rounds to the outer campuses twice a week and as needed.
• Prepares the annual report for the Lafayette Campus, and aids the external campuses with the preparation of their reports.
• Tracks and maintains clinical contracts for the PN program
• Acts as the liaison between the clinical partners and the college for the PN programs.
• Ensures clinical site availability for each semester.
• Tracks end of course evaluations for the PN program.
• Assists in the development and provides orientation for all newly hired adjunct and fulltime PN faculty.
• Addresses health record (Castle Branch) activity for all PN programs and advises PN Coordinators of student deficiencies.
• Plans student service learning activities in conjunction with PN Coordinators.
• Assists in the resolution of all student grievances in the PN programs
• Leads faculty in developing program curricula and identity areas of improvement.
• Reviews booklist and makes program recommendations as needed.
• Manages and supports faculty in their roles as teachers, mentors, and practitioners.
• Attends conferences and stays up to date with issues relevant to the field.
• Provides input into the development and maintenance of the PN budget
• Provides oversight management of the PN Program End of Semester activities. (PN pinning and graduation)
• Assists in the preparation of the admission and graduation records to be submitted to the LSBPNE.
• Schedules PN program advising and orientation
• Tracks student Intent to Return process to ensure appropriate tracking of faculty.
• Schedules monthly PN faculty meetings.
• Attends PN advisory meetings
• Attends program chair and relevant ad-hoc meetings.
• Works with the dean’s office and appropriate staff to determine and communicate staffing, facilities, equipment, and other program needs.
• Provides leadership for program assessment and accreditation.
• Communicates with other chairs to foster effective use of resources around public programs, events and exhibitions.
• Works with academic staff to manage the day-to-day running of the program.
• Coordinates advising needs with the Associate Dean of students for advising.
• Provides the Associate Dean with a timely, accurate course schedule.
• May teach one three-hour theory class as needed.
• Other duties specific to the PN program’s needs, as required.

Qualifications Desired

SKILLS:
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to prepare annual reports
• Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to remain adaptable and flexible to different situations and changes, including learning new systems and processes.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.
• Ability to problem-solve effectively.

Experience Required

• RN, Associate Degree (Required)
• Current RN Licensure (Required)
• Years of Experience: At least 2-3 years Academia; A minimum of 10 years in Healthcare
