Position Title Instructor - Adult Education
Job Description Summary

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Provide academic and basic skills instruction to adults to provide a foundation for career success and personal fulfillment through educational attainment. The Adult Education instructor will be expected to be familiar with multiple methods of content delivery, testing procedures, pedagogy, andragogy, student educational counseling, student advocacy, Adult Education curricula, and local workforce industry partners. The Adult Education instructor will need to be able to assess students’ abilities, create and develop student educational plans, maintain accurate records and fulfill state and federal grant requirements that include class enrollment, retention, pre and post testing, and student outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Facilitate basic and advanced adult learners in math, science, reading, English, social studies, technology, and other possible subjects needed to prepare learners to pass the HISET.

Participate in weekly staff/team meetings within adult education department.

Follow all regulations according to LCTCS policies, grant parameters, educational plans, and student goals.

Maintain and provides appropriate accountability records and reports.

Continue professional development and networking with other Adult Education colleagues.

Adapt materials when needed for the benefit of the individual student or group of students.

Maintain student confidentiality at all times and follow all FERPA policies.

Responsible for promoting a positive environment and professional demeanor.

Responsible for reporting behavior that causes disruption, does not adhere to LCTCS and grant policies.

Experience with post-secondary instruction and providing student motivation.

Experience Required

Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
WorkReady U experience/certification or willingness to become certified
Minimum of two years of teaching in adult education or in a post-secondary setting
