Position Title Center for Minority Excellence Outreach Specialist
Job Description Summary

The Outreach Specialist works under the direct supervision of the CME Program Manager. This position will be responsible for logistical coordination of CME program information to prospective applicants, SLCC students, high school personnel, community organizations-agencies, military students and veterans, active duty service members and dependents. Excellent customer service, presentation and communications skills to screen, follow-up, and transition potential program participants. This position is funded 100% by a PBI grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Develops a comprehensive data-base of community partners in support of CME target population.
• Actively seek and communicate program requirements, services, and other information about CME and the College.
• Accurately enters all prospective communication information into the CME data-base for processing and departmental follow-up.
• Assists in scheduling all aspects of outreach activities and events into a central calendaring system.
• Insures that all materials needed for outreach activities and events available and sufficient.
• Serves as CME program advocate and liaison to internal and external constituents.
• Provides outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential associated with prospective applicants and program participants.
• Communicates and coordinates with other offices regarding outreach correspondence.
• Assisting the CME Program Manager with program development and strategic planning, and monitoring outreach priorities and progress towards department goals.
• Works collaboratively with the CME team to scale-up programs and services.
• Takes part in training sessions offered by the CME office.
• Predictable and reliable attendance is required in order to provide consistency and continuity of educational services.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications Desired

Experience working with military students, veterans, and/or active service members a plus.

Experience Required

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; high school diploma or GED required and two years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience may be considered in reference to the experience requirement.
