Position Information

Position Title Full-Time Faculty: Instructor of Theatre
Job Description Summary

The SLCC Arts & Humanities Department seeks a full-time Instructor for 9-month contract beginning in Fall of 2018 in Theatre. SLCC seeks a generalist qualified to teach Introduction to Theatre, Acting, and potentially develop additional courses as appropriate in the discipline. While SLCC does not currently provide an on-campus Theatre production program, this position would be expected to expand both on-campus performance opportunities (dramatic or staged readings, small scale productions, improv or other theatrical experiences) in conjunction with SLCC’s student Speech/Debate/Theatre Club, and to build relationships with area theatres for SLCC student opportunities in the community. This position is based primarily at the main SLCC Lafayette campus, however some occasional travel will be required to our regional campuses as needed, with ability to teach hybrid models of delivery preferred (experience with or willingness to gain training and approval). Faculty may be asked to teach (or train to teach) across multi-site (Video-conference based) courses as well. The full-time load for faculty at SLCC is 5 courses a semester, with opportunities to teach additional sections both during regular academic terms and summer as availability and need permits.
