Position Title Adjunct Faculty – Distance Education (Online)
Job Description Summary

The Distance Education Division seeks qualified online/remote adjunct applications for the Spring 2018 semester and beyond in the areas of Art, Communication, Economics, History and MicroComputer Information Systems (MCIS). Adjuncts are hired by the Department and South Louisiana Community College on a term by term basis for need, and will teach online/remote via the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).

The Distance Education Division seeks qualified online/remote adjunct applications for the Spring 2018 semester and beyond in the areas of Art, Communication, Economics, History and MicroComputer Information Systems (MCIS). Adjuncts are hired by the Department and South Louisiana Community College on a term by term basis for need, and will teach online/remote via the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
Responsibilities
• Teach assigned course(s)
• Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Note preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course
• Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabus
• Suitably challenge, engage, serve and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
• Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis
• Respond to student questions on a timely basis
• Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
• Post and maintain office and classroom schedules
• Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
• Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.

Qualifications Desired

• Experience teaching in the classroom (and with classroom technology) in Discipline
• Evidence of expertise in current trends in Discipline
• Evidence of Professional Development in Discipline or Related fields

Experience Required

• Master’s Degree (or appropriate MFA) in Discipline, or Master’s Degree in related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject area is required.
• Demonstrate excellent oral & written communication skills.
