Position Title Decision Support Analyst
Job Description Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize variety of automated procedures for data collection, analyses, and reporting processes. Create and maintain documentation (procedures and codebook) to ensure transparency and verifiability of procedures necessary to reproduce raw data and variable transformations
• Produce and ensure accuracy of annual reports for program reviews; assist in organizing meetings and workshops. Interpret and present data within the College community
• Respond to external or mandated and internal or ad hoc requests e.g., IPEDS, BoR, LCTCS, Accreditation, etc.
• Present information and work with colleagues to interpret results
• Prepare data and support for grant submissions
• Work collaboratively with Admissions, Registrar, IT, Financial Aid, and other departments to ensure accuracy of data in Banner
• Update and modify descriptive statistical and trend reports of surveys (e.g. student satisfaction survey, Advising survey, cohort analysis, etc.) in various numerical, tabular, and/or graphical formats
• Administer surveys to admitted students, graduates, and leavers (e.g. SRIs, CCSSE, SENSE, Advising Survey, etc.)
• Provide context and background information on issues; support research, projects, and initiatives as assigned by VCSI and senior leadership at SLCC
• Prepare background materials and reports for briefing leadership.
• Respond to periodic and routine requests for information and conduct ad hoc information gathering
• Create, edit, and provide input on content for presentations
• Produce visuals that meet user needs in decision-making and strategic planning
• Utilize established queries; compile and maintain data from Banner, FADS, other systems, the data repository, and other sources
• Perform quantitative and qualitative research to support planning and decision- making

• Independently audit, review, and verify databases to ensure data integrity and trustworthiness
• Develop data warehouse, maintain business intelligent products, analytics, and dashboards
• Serve on campus committees
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications Desired

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• A master’s degree in social science, education, or other research related discipline or the equivalent combination of education training and experience from which comparable skills and abilities may be acquired
• Experience with Banner student information system, COGNOS and SQL
• Experience in advanced statistical analysis, programming, and experience using statistical software such as SPSS or SAS
• Experience accessing data from management information system in a network environment (e.g. Banner, Cognos, Survey Monkey)

• Familiarity with state and federal mandated reports and community college accountability report requirements
• Completion of professional development courses, seminars, or institutes in the field of institutional or educational research
• Completed coursework in survey design, research methodology, and advanced statistical methods
• Working knowledge of web development and reporting tools, data mining, and desktop publishing software
• Participation in professional associations (e.g. AIR, SAIR, LAIR etc.)
• Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff

Experience Required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor’s degree in social science, education, computer science, mathematics, or other research related discipline
• Minimum of one year institutional or educational research experience
• Experience with collecting, verifying, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data, preferably in a higher education environment
• Experience with advanced database management systems
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
• Demonstrated ability to automate systematic reports in Access, Excel, SPSS, or SAS
• Knowledge of survey research methodology, analysis, and report writing
• Knowledge of data validation techniques
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Ability to prioritize
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy of information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service skills; commitment and ability to interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and college community
