Position Title Academic Success Coordinator
Job Description Summary

Summary: The Academic Success Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and implementing programs and services to help improve the educational outcomes of program participants. The program manager must cultivate a student centered environment that is supportive of student success, persistence, retention, graduation, and/or transfer. This position is funded 100% by a PBI grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Coordinates, plans, and implements programs, services, and activities designed to improve the educational outcomes of the participants.
• Coordinates, develops, and implements comprehensive advising, academic, tutorial, and support services to ensure student success, persistence, retention, and graduation.
• Coordinates, develops, and presents student success workshops on study skills, financial literacy, goal setting, time management, etc.
• Serves as program advocate and liaison to the campus community.
• Works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to help provide a student centered environment that encourages student success, retention, and college completion.
• Provides intrusive advising, counseling, mentoring, and support services to participants.
• Monitors the academic progress, persistence, and retention of program participants.
• Maintains an electronic database of student files.
• Develops and disseminates flyers, brochures, and web content regarding program services, goals, objectives, successes, and outcomes.
• Works cooperatively with other offices to ensure the successful delivery of support services to participants.
• Provides outstanding customer services to all internal and external customers.
• Attends professional development conferences, trainings, workshops, and meetings.
• Submits quarterly, semester, and annual compliance and performance reports.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications Desired

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to demonstrate the proven abilities of intellectual reasoning, power of persuasion, and consistent dedication to the position. Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Publisher, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is required. Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications such as Degree Works, Hobson Retain-EAB, etc. Must have experience using BANNER or other student information system such as Datatel, PeopleSoft, etc.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Criminal Background Clearance.
Other Qualifications: Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.

Experience Required

Master’s degree with emphasis in higher education, curriculum and instruction, and/or related field preferred. Academic advising or teaching experience in higher education required. A background in mathematics or English is highly preferred. Must have experience working with low-income and/or first generation students.
