Service to Students, Department, Division or College (20 – 30% of Activity, 10 – 15 hrs. wk.)

Institutional Service
Community Service
Student Services

Expectation to teach on multiple campuses and in multiple delivery formats, with home campus at SLCC’s T.H. Harris Campus in Opelousas, LA.

Will be expected to teach several courses per year for our Early College Academy partnerships.

Research and Professional Development Activities (5 – 15% of Activity, 5 – 10 hrs. wk.)

Developing/Maintaining Professional Relationships
Continuing Education
Publishing/Writing Activities
Research Activities

Qualifications Desired

Teaching experience preferred.
Experience with online courses.
Experience with hybrid courses.

Experience Required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The minimum qualification for teaching in an Academic area is a Master’s degree in the discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline being taught.
Experience teaching nontraditional and diverse populations.
Expertise and interest in instructional methodologies.
Knowledge of current technology in instructional settings.
Evidence of excellence in communications and the ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues.
Ability to teach a variety of History topics with a preference of additional expertise in Geography and/or Western Civilization.
