Position Title Peer Tutor (All Campuses)
Job Description Summary

This position reports to the Lead Tutor of the Student Success Center in fulfillment of the College’s mission.

Duties:

Providing tutoring to students in Math and/or English courses.

Maintaining accurate records of tutoring sessions.

Assisting in scheduling appointments.

Serve as a role model for all students seeking academic assistance.

Be punctual for all scheduled tutoring sessions.

Position available at the following campuses:

Lafayette Campus
Acadian Campus – Crowley
C.B. Coreil Campus- Ville Platte
Evangeline Campus -St. Martinville
Franklin Campus
Gulf Area Campus – Abbeville
New Iberia Campus
T.H. Harris Campus – Opelousas

Qualifications Desired

In-depth knowledge and understanding of course content.

Interest in working with and assisting fellow students.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to work as a part of a team.

Outstanding customer service skills.

Ability to be empathetic to students having academic difficulties.

Experience Required

Applicants must have earned a B or higher in the subject(s) to be tutored.

Students who wish to participate in the student worker program must be enrolled in at least six credits at South Louisiana Community College during the semester of employment.

Additionally, students must be eligible to work in the United States and successfully submit all paperwork required by Human Resources.

Student Workers must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at South Louisiana Community College at the time of application to participate in the program and must maintain this minimum level for continued employment.
